Can the family tree be published to a personal site instead of myheritage.com. If not, does anyone know of the security features on myheritage.com and policies on removing information from the site, when requested.
You can delete your family tree and any content on your family site by yourself at any point in time. If you would like to delete your account or family site, just write to support@myheritage.com and we'll take care of it for you.
I'm using Windows 7. I tried to import a GEDCOM file which was created on Family Tree Maker, on a computer with Windows XP. There is a field for Hebrew Names. On the original file, a Hebrew font was used for the names. On import to Family Tree Builder, the field appears in the Facts, but instead of a Hebrew font, it comes out in gibberish. My computer is fully bi-lingual English and Hebrew. In Regional Settings keyboards are set to English US and Hebrew. On the administator tab, the default language for non-unicode fonts is set to Hebrew. I have close to 1000 names on my tree, and cannot retype all of the Hebrew names. How do I solve the problem?

Some times this is related to how the GEDCOM file is save. Try this:
Open the file in Notepad, do a File/Save As, look at the "Encoding" box. If it is ANSI, save a copy as UTF-8, or the other way around. Try to import again.
I would like to know how to send an updated message to my existing family members in a easy way.
Is there a way to choose a from an existing list of members. When you try to send an invite you can only choose family members that havent joined. Basically i need to have current members reminded about the new site and to update their family information.
I just started this website, and has built a little bit of my family.
I have a girlfriend , who's father has made alot of work on "his" tree at your website.
Now I would like to know, can I mark him as "father" of my girlfriend,
and import his whole familytree above her?
So if he makes changes, it updates at my tree?

I am able to create a family book, but the pdf will not open either in this site ( an error msg appears) or the e-mailed version (an error msg saying that the document cannot be found).

When I navigate to "Family tree" there's no "Charts and books" section. There's a "Print charts and books" section, but I don't find an option to create a Family Book there.....
I've tried changing the language to english, and now the Family Book option have appeared, BUT when I choose the Family Book option, my choice changes to Close Family, and the Family Book option disappears! If I refresh the page, the Family Book option appears again, but I can still not choose it.....
In order to fix the wrong association, go to the family site where you see the problematic association, then go to “My Profile” > Associate with Family tree.
As you will see the association is wrong. Just change the name to the right name and the issue should be resolved.
I have exported a GEN file so another family member can see it, however when importing it into another program [family tree quick and easy] it shows a error file of unknown tags, also the photos do not appear to be included in the file, when exporting to a gen file it asks if the photos should be in a subfolder or not, which is the correct answer to give to have the photos imported into the other program, ive tried both... i have attached a txt file of the error tags encounted

Most of the errors in the import report were due to custom fields used by Family Tree Builder, not recognized by the program you used. It is considered a valid practice to have custom fields and they all begin with an undercore (_), e.g.
_IMG, _PHOT, etc. So you can ignore this.
I venture to suggest that the specific program you were trying to transfer the GEDCOM into, is incapable of importing photos referenced in GEDCOM files. Many programs suffer from such limitation, because many programs cannot even export photos into GEDCOM files to begin with, like FamilyTreeMaker (FTB). You can check this by importing the same GEDCOM file into Family Tree Builder (into another project) and you will see that the photos have been transferred properly.
If you would like another relative of yours to review the tree I recommend that you export the data into a chart, a book report, an Excel sheet; or ask the relative to install Family Tree Builder and send him the entire projec file (File > Manage Projects, select projects and choose Export Package, send him the single package file). The relative can go to File > Manage Projects on his computer, select Import Package and import your project with all its photos, as-is, intact, without any format conversions.

When viewing myheritage.com on a Macintosh using Safari names appear as "Unknown" - even when it says "This is you - Unknown" (myheritage-2.jpg)! However, the "Invite close family" section lists correct names (myheritage-3.jpg), even though those same people's names are shown as "Unknown" elsewhere (myheritage-4).
You see unknowns in your family's tree, not because of your browser, but because of language issues related to building a family tree in more than one language in our Family Tree Builder software.
Your family's tree is built with the software and is set to display both English and Swedish names in the tree. The issue here is that it's not enough simply to add a second display language in the program - one must also translate the names in order to display them in that language. If the names haven't been translated they will show up as "unknown" after publishing.
If you switch your family site's language to Swedish, you will see the names appear correctly, including your own.
Here is an FAQ item you can show to the Site Manager of your site to help him/her correct the problem:
I have problem with Latvian language special characters, like: Ķ, ķ, Ē, ē, Ī, ī, Ā, ā etc. When I want to export tree to PDF, then names lose these symbols. For example, my surname is Ķeris, in PDF it will be " eris", "Ināra Ķere" will be "In ra ere". Same problem is when I want import tree (GEDCOM, same thing those characters are lost.
