When you start a basic family site at MyHeritage.com you can add up to 250 people in the tree. After that, you'll need to buy a subscription to continue adding people.
If you decide not to upgrade your family site, access to the site will be limited. However, we never delete your information and you can always get a copy of the tree on the Family Tree > Manage Trees page in order to edit the tree and bring it back within the site limit.
I opened your site for you temporarily so that you can edit the tree and access your site.
Why does FTB change the names of ancestors to a generic family name without first names. I already typed in the correct names, but somehow FTB wanted to change this. This is a bit annoying and time consuming, and is even making me lose information. Does this have anything to do with settings?
I'm not sure if I have the same problem. When I type in a name or place there is a auto finish function that is annoying with names. With places it is great but with names not so great. If I type in i.e "Johan Sebastian" and later try to add another plain "Johan" it will suggest "Johan Sebastian" and I have to delete Sebastian. Since I'm a poor typer I look at the keyboard when I type and I may miss the added Sebastian. It would be great to be able to switch the auto finish on/off for selected data fields.
Also when you add a new member to the family the program suggests the last name of father or child depending on whom you is adding a new person to. In Scandinavia the most common naming of persons before 1900 is taking the faders given name and then add "son/sen" or "dotter/datter" i.e Carl Larssons son will get Carlsson as last name and a daugter will get Carlsdotter. So to be able to switch off the last name suggestion would also be a time saver.
I don't think that's the problem. The names even disappeared from my family tree builder; meaning the edit box was empty, and had been replaced in the tree with the last name of a more recent ancestor.
However, I re-typed the correct names, and everything seems to be OK now.
I've looked through this topic and see that it's been fairly well covered. But, when I try to use the suggested method of merging, it doesn't work - I don't get the choices to open as a new project vs. opening into an existing project because, you see, BOTH are existing projects.
I was doing some research for a friend with whom I've been friends since diapers. I learned years ago that my mother used to be married to her great-uncle. I always thought that was cool because that way we were almost family. I have now discovered that we actually ARE family. She has TWO lines that tie into ONE of mine and I have all my research completed for that line (well, as complete as I can get it before it leave this continent in the 1600s). I want to put hers and my trees together where they meet so that she can see how we are related (still a very cool thing, in my book - friends for decades, family forever!) How do I do that when both trees are projects on my FTB? Mine is currently published. Hers isn't - and won't be.
hi, aviv. thank you for your response. i appreciate it. however, as i explained in my first paragraph, that method did not work because both trees are already projects on my ftm. i created them and already have both gedcoms. using those instructions does not give me the same options because both are existing projects. thatks my dilemma.
Thank you for writing to us.
I am so happy to hear about your discovery!
Regarding the merging of the trees, please take a look at the following FAQ:
I understand. In this case you will need to export one of the projects to a GEDCOM file, so you will be able to merge this file with the other Family Tree Builder project. You can export a GEDCOM in the Family Tree Builder by going to File > Export Gedcom.
Please take a look at the FAQ that one of the posts above direct to, regarding merging trees.
In the FAQ it is mention that in order to merge the second tree into the first, when you are asked if you would like to close the current tree, you will need to click on No. Then you should have the option to import the tree tree into the one that was just open.
If the photo was added in Family Tree Builder, you must make sure to delete it from the tree in Family Tree Builder as well as from your site. Otherwise it will reappear the next time you publish your tree.

Up until last week everything was fine. But I had a large number of smart matches in my site which I worked through. However when I received confirmation of matches and went to update and merge through FTB, the confirmed names and matching family sites are not there. It seems I would have to manually record the information and input it into FTB. This is not realistic and would take weeks/months. Anybody else had this problem?
I can't for the life of me remember or figure out how I add information and people to my tree. I don't know if I have to be in family tree buider or what. Anyway, I just cannot figure it out. Can anyone help?
