I would find many of my questions answered if there were some sample profile with all facts, addresses and other fields filled in. It is not clear to me how to fill in some fields, especially when it comes to adding information about a person from the past: should all the addresses be added to "Facts" and is "Contact information" ignored in this case? What should be done with locations that no longer exist or are renamed and therefore cannot be found on the map automatically? Should only Town be inserted in the person's birthplace or Town [comma] Country?
Is there some sample but detailed family tree that can be taken as an example? If there is no such thing, could perhaps someone share the address to their online tree?
One generatede on family tree builder (actualy I modified an exported GEDECOM file for massive changes, picture uploads, etc);
Other- is modified online so that other members can have this oportunity;
My concern is: The first has grown rapidilly, but it doesn´t some changes made online on the other, so, How TO SINCHRONIZE THIS TWO TREES-I MEAN having the other members changes on the bigger tree.
I have two previously-created (almost identical) family trees that I wish to delete, but they do not show up under "my sites" or "manage site(s)". I can find them, but the site does not recognize me as the 'manager' of these two trees. I have only one account, so I do not understand why I am unable to access and edit all the information I have input.
No. Blackwell-Ruccius and Olson-Bedwell are new, and I do not want to delete those. I have access to those two, they're fine.
The two old ones that I am unable to access as administrator/manager are both named Blackwell-Swidersky. The two Blackwell-Swidersky trees do not show up in My Sites, and I am unable to made edits to them. Hence my inquiry as to why I am unable to access, make edits and/or delete them.
I am the creator and only member of these two sites - but as I have advised, the only access I now have is as a guest, with no editing rights whatsoever.
I have been creating my family tree using Family Tree Builder, and I have figured out how to generate a book in pdf form. However, I have two questions:
1. How do I save the family tree to a disc as ged files, so that I have a backup?
2. Also, how do I share ged files from my tree with others, and how do I ged files from their family trees? I ask this, because, when I confirm Smart Matches, I can copy and paste only the information at the top (dates of birth and death, etc.). I would also like to be able to transfer the names of family that appear below that. Surely, I don't have to copy all those names manually.
I hope you are enjoying using Family Tree Builder!
1. In order to save a GEDCOM to a disc you want to open your tree in Family Tree Builder and then use the File > Export GEDCOM menu to create a GED file.
2. If you want to send a GED file of your tree to someone else, you'll want to send them an email with an attachment. Use the File > Export GEDCOM menu to create the GED file and then send it.
If you want to get a copy of someone else's tree, you'll have to ask them for a copy. Only the Site Manager of the site can allow you to get a copy.
I selected my primary language to be Serbian, and my family surname is Kišić but when I save the changes the program is automatically changing that into Kišic ( ć into c) and Neđeljko into Nedeljko (đ into d). So the program is recognising some characters from Serbian alphabet and some not. Is there any way to fix that problem, it is essential part of functionality of the program, right?
I see that you actually created your family tree in the software Family Tree Builder, and then published the tree to your family site. This means that in order to edit your family tree, you have to edit it in the software Family Tree Builder, and then republish the tree to your site, in order to update it.
Please let me know if you have any more questions regarding this.
