I have found the 1901 census records for the clarke family here-
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~donegal/1901roughanc.htm
This takes the family back another generation to 1841, although not mentioned in the census William had a younger brother and sister living away from home in 1901.
Another thing to note is the address has changed from #3 Roughin to #4 in the 10 years between the 1901 and 1911 census; another house must have been built between #2 and #3!
Names found here in the 1878 Protestant census.

The family comes under the parish of Conwal, additional information on the Parish can be found in the above very impressive website.
Griffiths Valuation 1857
George Clarke appears on this document as a landowner along with 3 other Clarke’s all living in the town land of Roughin which itself is only 138 acres, this leads me to believe that the 4 mentioned Clarke’s may well be brothers and the land was divided up on the death of their father who may have owned a more substantial farm. Of course this is just speculation I have no evidence to support this theory at this time but will keep looking. Link to valuation below. Also link to original griffiths ledger entry!
