Hello Antoon,
Thank you for thinking of us. The floods have been very devastating for many people in Brisbane city where we live. My mum and dad were forced to evacuate their house, but fortunately they left just in time before the major floods came. My house is on a high point in Brisbane so I was unaffected.
We were the lucky ones in this situation but so many homes have been destroyed! However, it is really nice to see how Australian's from all over QLD are going to the inundated areas and volunteering their help to get everything cleaned up.
The photo's from the reunion look great! I was sad that I couldn't be there, but as a university student here in Brisbane I couldn't really afford the trip over to Europe. I have 2 more years left of university, after which I want to travel some more. In this case, The Netherlands is definitely a place I want to spend a lot more time.

Dear Antoon and Thea,
Thank you for your concern. The Queensland floods have been across many regions, including Brisbane where my family is living. Fortunately, both Alexandra and Jamilla reside in elevated areas so were safe. Mark and I, however, had to evacuate our apartment as the basement car park flooded and the streets were cut off in our area. Thankfully, no damage to the apartment itself. We have been staying with Alex until things get back to normal. We also volunteered our time to helping families who were severely affected, many have lost all their possessions, including their homes. We were very lucky to escape with nothing more than inconvenience so feel very grateful for this.
Jamilla is studying very hard, now in her third year of university. She has also a new boyfriend with German/Swedish parents. She is very happy in her life.
Thank you for all your efforts on the website. It is great to see all the photos. Jamilla sends her warmest regards as do all my family.
