Berridges of Rushden, Great and Little Catworth,Wood Walton, and Ramsey, Huntingdonshire, now looking at St Neots England. The Name Berridge is first found in Yorkshire England, where the family held a seat in Ancient times long before the Norman Conquest in 1066, the family lived on "Beveridge" an Island in the Severn River Estuary, the Berridge Name arises from Two Old English words : Beofer, which means" Beaver", and Ige : which means "Island" Which may account for the Beaver on the family Crest, According to the "Black's book of Scottish Surnames" of Familys/Tartans/ and Clans, "Beveridge" is also supposed to come from an Island in the River Severn, Which also means "Beaver Island" . In my searches i have found a Richard Berridge, born 1776, in Scotland, living in grey coat Street, Middlesex London, England, with his sons , Richard b.1816 , James b.1821, William b.1826 and Thomas b.1827, all born in Middlesex London England.
