Alvin passed away this morning a few minutes ago. Arrangements have not been made, we will know more during the day Thursday.

Aunt Winfred doing ok. it will be hard on her as they have been together constantly since she was 17 years old. Janice and Emmett are with her right now. I plan on leaving shortly to go to Nebraska, I would guess

Service will be in Hay Springs, Lutheran Church, within next 3 or 4 days, depending on how soon Carolyn can get in from Carolina. I don’t know if she will drive or fly. I hope you will let know the ones that don’t have email.

to me

Hi Ted,

I have produced a PDF - File for you ( appendix to this email ).

In the PDF - File I have tried to show with the help of some maps where your ancestors came from.

I have also put in some pictures of Heinrichsdorf from nowadays. I know the place very well and have travelled many times to the region.

My wife has ancestors from that region. There is also a SCHERBARTH in her family ( however not as an ancestor ) who lived in the village of Alt - Wuhrow near Warlang. He was born 1834 in Alt - Draheim at the Dratzig - Lake.

I have also implemented some pages of the church book of Heinrichsdorf. One page shows the birth entry of Carl SCHERBARTH in 1843.

Hope you will enjoy that file.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Hi Theodore,

I have a lot of information about your SCHERBARTH family of Germany and can help you to get some things straight. There are some errors and misspellings in your tree.

Do you also have a tree in ? If so, you will know the picture of the gravstone of Johann Michael SCHERBARTH ( 1798 - 1883 ). If you have a close look at that tombstone you will see an inscription near his dates of birth which reads
" Warlang ". This is his real place of birth !

The SCHERBARTH family was originated in Warlang, a small village near Heinrichsdorf. Warlang was crowded with SCHERBARTH. At least a third of the population either went by the name SCHERBARTH or was related to SCHERBARTH.

Johann Michael SCHERBARTH was married twice. The children you list in your tree were all children of the second marriage.

Johann Michael was a carpenter. I can sent you the entry of the birth of his son William SCHERBARTH from the church book if you like.

I am working on a genealogical database for people of pomerania ( the province of prussia the SCHERBARTH came from ). I have now about 90.000 names in the database, your SCHERBARTH family included.

So much for now,

Horst RIEMANN, Germany
