A site member commented on the photo Peter Bish Homestead:
 Bish Family Cemetery

This is a small secluded family cemetery left alone for over a 100 years. It was located on the hill behind their family barn. Many stones and slabs and encircled by small trees and stone barrier. It is on private property, inaccessible to the public. It is now located in woods and traveled by cows.

The Bish Brick farm house was build about 1813 from brick fired on the site. A large stone fireplace in the basement served as a cooking center until 1845. It burn down in the 1970's. But in 2015 the barn still stands.

The gravestone for Phebe is the only stone in the cemetery that has name on it. Some old records for her gravestone inscription say she died in 1840 at the age of 65 years. This would place her birth during 1775.

A few years after the birth of William P. Miller his parents switched spouses with their next door neighbors. So his mother's married name switched from Miller to Males.

His siblings were: Eliza Ann Blair (born Miller), Lavina Stephens (born Miller), Charles Miller, Jacob Males, Lydia Males, Henry Males, Sabina Males, John Males, Adam Males.

Lovely picture, Jack, you're doing a great job
A site member commented on person Berryman McLaughlin :
I have no idea. Your Thomas Edward Berryman first married Eliza A. Bell and had 3 children. No indication of this family leaving Virginia. His second wife was Mary Cleland (Jackson) Beach/Berryman from Michigan.
A site member commented on person Berryman McLaughlin :
Just wondering how Berryman got his first name since I had a step-great-grandfather with the last name of Berryman born in 1839 in Surry County, Virginia.

Obituaries:Deceased Profiles Updated to include FaG References
Posted by: Jack Gilchrist on Mar 22 2013 12:40

For those family members that are now deceased and whom I have either created or found on the Find a Grave web site updates have been completed.

These updates now give the Find a Grave memorial ID # so you may find them on Find a Grave and read their BIO and traverse to other family members, also deceased, that are directly related to them.

I have found the FaG web site to be very helpful in tracking down details about our family ancestors. Many folks contribute to this information and they also frequently volunteer to run down details about our family including finding their burial locations and even taking pictures of their grave markers for us.

I hope this helps those of you who are interested explore our family tree and determine not only how we are related but how our ancestors lived their lives in the "Good Old Days".

Posted by: Jack Gilchrist on Mar 22 2012 11:03

However, I will be happy to generate this PDF genealogy reports, either ancestors and/or descendants, for any person you wish in our 7000 person family tree. Just drop me a line (by Email .. jackgilchrist@yahoo.com) and I will send you the branches of our family history you have requested.

As always, if you see any information that needs deleted, updated and/or added just let me know and I will be happy to take care of it. This includes mug shots as I use the best I can find but you can always send me something you like better.
