My name is  Ulrika Lundin and I am webmaster of this site. This site was created with MyHeritage.com. It is a system that allows anyone to create a website for family and publish your own family tree on the Internet.

My main purpose with this website is to share my genealogy research to close and distant relatives. During the time when I collect data I use the website as a way to keep in touch with my relatives.

I would particularly like to explore my four grandparents' parents' siblings. I have an idea that I will write some kind of family stories of these siblings. I am thinking that the stories begins with their parents' marriage and ends with their grandchildrens's birth. I will write about the period 1850-1950 approximately. It is these siblings' lifes who becomes the core of the story, and otherwise it will not be so detailed. I want to illustrate these family stories with photos, some information about where they lived, their occupations, etc.

Here is some short information on how the website works: At the top are tabs and if you click on the “Family Tree”, this will be shown. Since I have my whole family (both mother's and father's side) in the same family tree much information is hidden behind different people. You move around in the tree by moving the cursor over it so that a hand is formed and then drag around. Click on the green leaves of the persons whose family branch you are interested of.  You can also search for people in the family tree by using the search box in the upper right corner.

For more information about a specific person, so you simply click on the person and get the information to the left. You can also create pdf files with pedigree; for instance, select an ancestor you are related to and you will receive a concise chart of his descendants.

Photographs of mainly elderly relatives are under the tab “Photographs & Videos”. The albums are sorted by the different families and I have named them after the parents surname, the husband´s first and then the wife's maiden name. When their children have children of their own, they instead get their own album. The numbers show the different generations, the oldest generations have the lowest numbers.  The photographs are only shown for members. If you have photos or if you know anything about the pictures on the website please let me know!

Information on living individuals in the family is visible only to visitors who are members on this site. Only people who have confirmed that they want to be shown can be seen.

Genealogy:My grandfather´s diaries!
Posted by: Ulrika Lundin on Aug 13 2010 08:01

I finally had the opportunity to borrow of the diaries written by my paternal grandfather Paul Lundin. He started to write diary when he was 15 years old in 1920 and went on nearly until his death in 1978. For the years 1920-1929 he wrote them with ordinary text but from the summer of 1929 he switched to stenography! I´m in contact with the Swedish Stenography Association so perhaps even that can be solved, we´ll have to see.

Anyway it´s really fun the read these diaries and perhaps it was just good that I had to wait so long since I then have had the time to find out who is who within this family. The diaries will definitely help me to create a more vivid story!

A real gold-mine!

Announcements:Information about living people
Posted by: Ulrika Lundin on May 30 2009 14:27

I have now concealed information about living people who are not members, except for those who have stated that it´s all right to be shown. If you would like your nearest relatives to be shown, ask them if that´s okay and send me an e-mail to confirm this. You can of course also invite them to be members.

Genealogy:The family name Hagman was used already in the early 1700s
Posted by: Ulrika Lundin on Feb 20 2009 04:41

Several of my paternal grandfather's mother Amanda´s siblings changed their surnames from Andersson / Andersdotter to Hagman. Of course I have wondered about where they got the idea for the name. Now I have learned that their paternal grandmother was named Lovisa Hagman (1808-1891), her father in turn was named Anders Hagman (born 1765) and her grandfather was named Daniel Hagman (born 1724).

This doesn´t follow the system called "patronymic" which was common way to name the children in a family in northern Europe at this time. The patronymic was indicated by adding the father's given name to -son and -dotter in Sweden. This means that further back in the swedish history the surnames for most people changed between the generations. There were exceptions from this system including clergy, nobility and some craftsmen but I haven´t found that the Hagmans would have been included to that kind of groups. I think they were ordinary tenanted farme...

Announcements:Photographs
Posted by: Ulrika Lundin on Feb 11 2009 08:26

I have now started to upload photographs, mainly for the period 1850-1950, here on the family website. With a photograph a distant relative becomes more alive and many of the old studio photographs are so beautiful. Choose the tab "Photos & Videos" and then select "Albums".

The albums are sorted by the different families and I have named them after the parents surname, the husband´s first and then the wife's maiden name. When their children have children of their own, they instead get their own album. The numbers show the different generations, the oldest generations have the lowest numbers. More photographs will appear later on. The photographs are only shown for members of the website.

If you have more photos from this period or know anything more about the images (year, places, type of clothing etc.) you are very welcome to tell me!

Announcements:The first contacts with relatives in the United States
Posted by: Ulrika Lundin on Feb 11 2009 08:21
Several of my grandfather´s mother Amanda Lundin's (born with the maiden name Andersson) brothers and sisters emigrated to the United States in the late 1800s. With the information present on photographs of Amanda's sister Anna Eldfrick I managed to trace Anna's descendants and to get in touch with them. It's really fun and exciting. From now on, therefore, information relating to all members or information related to this family branch will be in english.

Announcements:Målet med min forskning
Posted by: Ulrika Lundin on Dec 18 2008 13:50

Posted by: Ulrika Lundin on Nov 25 2008 14:28

Posted by: Ulrika Lundin on Nov 21 2008 03:17

Posted by: Ulrika Lundin on Nov 14 2008 14:38

Posted by: Ulrika Lundin on Nov 12 2008 07:05
