Photo left: standing: DWB Hansen, Peter, Lilian Scorringe, Emma Hansen, Leif Nannestad, front row: Leonie, David, Rob Nannestad, Graham, Gillespies Line, PN, NZ, March 1947. My mother and I are not in the photo because I had just been born. Granny, Lilian, was there to mind my brothers and sister. My Nanna, Emma, died just 3 months later on my mother's birthday, 19 June 1947. Smith family: Thomas Smith's brother James Smith married Catherine 'Kate' Robinson, nee Murfitt, a sister of my grt grandmother, Ellen Usley Murfitt. Two of the earliest events: 1580: birth of Johnis Tebbot, Soham, Cambridgeshire, England. 1544: birth of Thomas Staples, Cambridgeshire, England [Paiment/Staples branch]. Both are ancestors of my grandmother, Lilian Constance Scorringe nee Smith. In NZ there is a well known English family, Hansens of Oihi, Northland. We are not related to them, however, there is a slight connection to that family through a brother and sister of the Legarth family of Dannevirke. James 'Jim' Hansen married Esther Legarth, and Johannes 'John' Legarth married Ila Ivy Murray. Ila was a descendant of the English Hansens. I hope you will enjoy viewing photos and names.
