Welcome

We hope this site assists others in their family research of direct and many branches of the extended family.

Remember even though some of those we love most are no longer with us "They will always be in our memories, thoughts and hearts". A tear is often followed by a smile.

SHERLOCK - KING family lines in Australia began with the arrival of Sarah (or Maria) KING in 1800 on the "Speedy" as a guest of England and the arrival in 1806 of a seaman, Samuel SHERLOCK (free) aboard the "Fortune".

On 25th October 1808 in Sydney Samuel married  Sarah (Maria) in Sydney, it was not until after 1817 when they moved to Van Diemans Land (Tasmania) that we find in 1823 the birth of an only known (recorded) child "John Henry SHERLOCK (1823-1883)" to Samuel and Sarah/Maria SHERLOCK (my 3rd Great-grandparents), from there that point the SHERLOCK family line in Australia (of which I am a direct descendant) began when John Henry SHERLOCK married Ann HART (1823-1920) the 1st daughter and 4th child of William Doubleday HART and Ann HART (nee: GREEN), both John Henry SHERLOCK and Ann HART were born in Van Diemans Land (Tasmania).

Our heartfelt gratitude and admiration for the work in research and recording of family history is extended to Mary LOWE (deceased), Jan STEVENS, Pam SHERLOCK (née: NORTON) and Yvonne PURDY (née: SHERLOCK) to name but a few, as well as to everyone who has in the past and will in the future please accept my humble thanks.
