I have found records that Marie Stieven (born Babin) was born in Grand Pre , Acadia (Nova Scotia) in 1761 (as her parents were) and died inFeb 1829 in Thibodeaux, LA.

His birth name was Pietro Cansiani. He was norn in the country of Venetia. He changed his name to Pierre CANCIENNE after immigrating to Louisiana. His father was Giorgio Quinciay Cansiani of Venetia. Even though he did not immigrate to Louisiana or change his name, on many genealogy charts, he is listed as George CANCIENNE. Pietro Cansiani arrived in Louisiana in 1786 among Canary Islanders who migrated in number to the Lousiana territory. He married Jeanne Marguerite LANDRY on February 15, 1786in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. They lived in Plattenville, LA. Jeanne Landry was born in France, lived in Acadia (Canada), returned to France, and then re-settled in Louisiana. She arrived in LA from France, age 20, in 1785 aboard the St. Remi.
