MACOMB, IL - Wayne E. Evans, 79, of Macomb, passed away at 11:26 PM Friday December 19, 2008 at McDonough District Hospital.
He was born July 12, 1929 in Macomb to Alva & Bertie McCants Evans; he married Patricia Mesecher on Feb. 5, 1950. She survives.
Also surviving are 3 daughters Gwynne Ann Worthington of Macomb, Tonna Kay (Larry) Padgett of Buchanan, Michigan, Kimberly Lee (Bill) Carrigan of Huntington Beach California; 3 grandsons; Clint Worthington, Ryan and Jeremy Padgett; 1 step-grandson Nick Padgett; 2 nephews Brad & Brent Payne; 1 niece Lisa Krieg and 1 brother in law Ron Mesecher.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister Marilyn Payne.
He served in the United States Army from 1952-1954. He was a member of the Macomb Elks, American Legion, VFW and Masonic Lodge. He served as Past Commander of the Roseville American Legion. He farmed and worked for McDonough Power for 46 years retiring in 1994. He was an avid Hunter and fisherman.
Services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday December 24, 2008 at the Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, where visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 PM. Rev. James Oliver will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery with Military rites. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Macomb VFW or Spring Creek Cemetery.
