|A site member commented on person Elizabeth Tailboys (born Gascoigne)
: | Elizabeth had a son named Gilbert. After Henry VIII started his affair with Mary Boleyn, he dropped Elizabeth Blount, the mother of his illegitimate son, Henry Fitzroy. Bessie, as she was called, needed a husband. Cardinal Woolsey put forth his protegee, Gilbert Tailboys, as a suitable match. After the marriage, they had a daughter and two sons. The king offered Gilbert the title of the 1st Baron Tailboys of Kyme. His oldest son, while inheriting the title, became 2nd Baron Tailboys. He died without an heir so his younger brother became 3rd Baron Tailboys. Worst luck, no heir here either. Their older sister than became the 4th Baroness Tailboys of Kyme. She had no children so the title died out with her. Bessie did better though. She married the Edward, 9th Baron Clinton, 1st Earl of Lincoln. This made Bessie a Countess.

|A site member commented on person William Sir Gascoigne, Knight
: | Sir William was the 13th in an unbroken line of first born William Gascoignes dating back to before the Battle of Hastings in 1066 AD. More than half were knighted and held important positions like High Sheriff. I believe, but have not yet proved, that the Castle Gawthorp and the original Knighthood were from William the Conqueror.
|A site member commented on person Lady Margaret Gascoigne (born Percy)
: | There is an article written a couple of years ago at the time of the birth of HRH Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge. It was written by a professional Genealogist. Scroll down about 9 screens and you will find Lady Margaret listed. It mentions that her daughter Elizabeth Gascoigne Tailboys was George Washington's 7 times grandmother. The meat of this article takes you down the line from another daughter names Agnes Gascoigne Fairfax. She was listed as the 14th grandmother of the Duchess of Cambridge and the 15th grandmother of the Duke of Cambridge. If you add every name in this line and Elizabeth's line, you would most likely need to upgrade your subscription to Premium Plus.

If you want to pursue Elizabeth's line and not Agnes' too, I can give you a list of Find a Grave.com Memorial Numbers that will take you through the line to George Washington.
