Louise's mother was Emilie D. Collier (1881-1908). Her father was Howard Fleming Durham. Emilie COllier Durham died two days after the birth of her daughter Emilie, who lived to be 27 years old. Louise's father Howard Durham married, in 1909, as his second wife, Christabel Burnham Bowie, who was divorced from Robert Robertson Bowie. Howard adopted Robert Robertson Bowie's daughter Ida Annette Bowie, who was then known for a number of years as Ida Annette durham.
