My name is Thor Even Brenden and I started this site.

The family comes from Gjøvik and Vardal,Toten,Gausdal and Nord Torpa and Nordsinni in Oppland and Nes, Romedal and Odal in Hedemark.

Mostly we live in Norway, but a large part of my fathers parental family emigrated to Amerika so a lot of relatives live over there. On his maternal side, a brother of grandma emigrated to Canada. Also on my mothers side we have a branch in The US.

My interest is of course to follow the ancestors back in history, but just as much, I am interested to get to know living relatives and has spent quite some time finding former unknown 2. and 3. cousins around in Norway and also in The US.To me it is a wish to actually get to know you and I urge you to contact me.

The family tree also includes my wife, Elin Smedsrud Brendens, family on both sides. Her mothers family mostly come from Nord Torpa and Etnedal in Oppland. Her fathers family comes from Toten in Oppland and Ringsaker in Hedemark.

My hope is that this project one day will be interesting to my daughter and coming generations. When I was young, I was not interested in family. When my father and mother was gone, I begane to understand that I was the oldest generation and it became more and more important to me to find out who my ancestors was and what they were like and what sort of life they lived. It was important to me not to be on top of a pyramide, but to be a part of a line that has excisted for a very long time. If you manage to follow the right line, you will go back to several hundred years befor Christ. Could this be possible ? Who knows, but we have to come from someone that lived in those days so why not. By the way, if we believe in it, my ancestors are Faraoes in Egypt and Shahs in Persia.

Another line can be followed into the line of Viking Kings. Probably a more plausible line than the above mentioned, but , of course, we can not be sure.Kongene Sigurd Munn,Harald IV Gilchrist, Magnus Berføtt and Olav Kyrre are in the line.

Our family tree is posted online on this site! There are 34044 names in our family site. The earliest event is the birth of Altoy Av Tyrkia (25). The most recent event is the death of Martha Berget (May 9 2013).
