My name is Ann Martin and I am the Webmaster of this site.
I started this site to run alongside my own family website. There are a lot more features on here, and a fantastic way to show off my family tree.
I was fascinated with the Gander family, who seemed to have been a huge part of the Willingdon area during the 1800-1900's. The Ganders married into my other main family interests, which are the Herberts and Betteridges, although have come across a few others on the way, including my married name.
My Grandfathers father was a jockey at Waddesdon Manor, working for the Rothschilds, when he came back from France in the early 1900's, but unfortunately there are no records of this due to the first world war!
I hope you enjoy looking through this site, I am still finding my own way around so please bear with me!!
So far this year we have had 2 new additions, and lost 2 very dear members of our family.
Firstly my little neice was born in January this year, soon to be celebrating her 1st birthday. The sadly in March, my grandmother (Kitty Herbert...nee Gander) passed away to be with her beloved husband John, who too passed away 18 months previously!
In June, Marilyn celebrated the birth of her little granddaughter, sadly followed , by the passing of my Great Aunt Mary only a week or so ago. All our thoughts and best wishes are sent to Marilyn and her family at this sad time!!
Unfortunately I have not had such an eventful year with my family research...more due to having a iively toddler who fails to sleep for long, alongside moving only a few weeks ago!!
Anyhow, just wishing anyone who has passed through here to read my ramblings a very Merry Christmas, and a joyful and peaceful 2008!!
