My name is Theresa Sandeman and I am the Webmaster of this site.
This site was created using MyHeritage.com. This is a great system that allows anyone like you and me to create a site for their family and even publish their family tree on the Internet. This tree is only available to invited people so please don't worry about anyone being able to access any details. Family members still living have their first names and pictures blanked out on the main tree but if you double click on the individual their personal details and picture will appear on the left hand side of the screen. If anyone is not happy at there details being displayed please contact me and I will remove them. If you have any comments or feedback about this site, please email me at t.r.sandeman@dundee.ac.uk It would be great if you could get back to me with any corrections needing made, or additions to be added etc. Please do play around on the site as much as possible, a lot of the information is hidden in the little side tabs so don't be frightened to press away at all the buttons, you will not be able to delete anything or mess anything up so don't worry about that.
The tree is an ongoing project which I will attempt to keep updating and adding to on a regular basis so please be sure to keep coming back to check what's new. At the moment I have tried to get most of the names onto the tree so everyone can see who's who, but in the future I want to add as much information about the people listed as possible. I would also like to get as far back in the family tree as possible. On the Sandeman line I would eventually like to discover a link between our line and the famous Sandeman's of Perth who include Robert Sandeman who formed the Sandemanian religous sect, and the famous Sandeman Port family. The further back I go seems to say we may be distant cousins having all been decendants from John Sandeman of Aylth. The main family names on this site are Sandeman, Cochrane, Docherty and O'Neill. If you find it difficult to move around the tree I have given some tips here. Please don't be put off if they sound complicated, it's a lot easer to use than you might think. To Find a Person - type their name into the 'find' boxes in the 'list' tab on the left hand side of the screen. Use maiden names for women. To See Information on a Person - click on the person then choose the 'Person' tab on the left hand side of the screen. You will have to scroll down the 'facts' section to read the information. For more details on an individual, choose the 'individual' option on the line at the top of the page, this will give additional info. Siblings - to see a person's siblings you must click on one of the parents. More than one Partner - if a person had/has more than one partner little numbered tabs will be visable on the partners box. Click on the numbers to find out about each of the partners and any children they had together. The options line at the top of the Page - play around with the options here, you can produce individual family tree's, find out the ancestors/decendants of individuals on the tree, it also allows you to view statistics like who is the oldest living relative etc. Try putting in your own name and it will fit the information around you!!! Please remember that I am relatively new to this site too so if you discover how something useful works please let me know too. Please also let me know if you are having difficulty using any of the tools or just finding your way around the tree, I'll do everything I can to help. Our family tree is posted online on this site! There are 823 names in our family tree. The earliest event is the birth of <Private> David Vargese
