I decided to research my family in 1994 when my father Frank Braithwaite died in 1994 and my mother Gladys Braithwaite (nee Peach//Pietsch) died the same year. Realizing that I knew nothing about any of my Ancesters from England and Germany. I am now researching my mothers family, Fritsch, Pietsch, families, who migrated to Australia in the 1800's from Germany. As I research, I find more and more families being added all the time, so, there could be some one you are looking for too! I am always happy to hear from people who can add to our family history. Tracking back through historical records will often provide evidence of names evolution. Name were frequently changed with the arrival in to Australia them easer to spell or pronounce. Many German names were angliczed. Typically the names adopted in this databaseis that recorded in birth or christinening records. Hoewever, exceptions to this rule have been made when it is clear that errors have been made, in a few cases, simply so as to keep families together in the index. In this case the name from the birth/christening will sometimes be shown in the birth/christening information. Where a place , town or city is shown as a place of birth or death, may infact be the place where the birth or death was registered. You should also check these sources of data where indicated if publishing it in anyway.
