My name is Nick Cardinaal and I am the Webmaster of this site.
My branch of the family has its roots in Zaandam (NL) and goes back to 1470. My ancestors were active in the timber trade using windmills to saw the wood. They were also shipbuilders of various types of ship. A number of the family members also ran shipping firms sending expeditions for whale fishing around Greenland and to the Cape Davis Straits.
The children shown in the foto are our 6 grandchildren.
