Simon and his brother David Leader were brothers of Michael Leader who is the father of John C. Leader. Both served with the union army during the civil war. This cemetary is near Bedford, Pa.
Melroy and wife Sarah E. Gill (Leader) died in tragic accident Kennewick River, he from drowning, and Sarah from heart problems brought on by near drowning. Sons Gene and Robert survived the accident.
Mary Ellen Luke (Hood) b. 1846 in Ohio to parents John C. Luke and Phebe Sanner (Luke). Married to William Frederick Hood 1867, had one son Joseph Henry Hood Apr.6, 1868. William died of stomach cancer in 1869, and Mary married William's brother Joseph Clarence Hood. Had three children in Michigan near Ogden. William. Estella, and Alva. In 1882 Joe sold the farm and took the family West to North Dakota, where he farmed . Another son, Robin was born in 1885, but died as an infant. Packed up and went further West to Washington Territory. A son Daniel was born in 1886 near Pomeroy, Wash. Roamed some then settled near Stites, Idaho. Mary died there in 1899.
Mary Ann Luke (Leader) b. March 11, 1854 d. March 8, 1917 to the flue epidemic. Married to John Conley Leader in 1872. 6 children, Nelson (died as child), Melroy, Florence, Orson M. , Rusella (died as baby), and Willard E.
Marty was adopted by Robert Leader, and entered the US Navy, was stationed aboard the USS Rehoboth in San Francisco bay, when he went missing. Found dead due to drowning in Jan 1959.
my uncle Ken, and my father Don Leader entered the US Army in Nov. 1942. Ken went into signal corps and was made a staff sergeant, injured his back in training, and given medical discharge in 1944. My dad started in tank destroyers training at Ft. Hood, Tx., then transfered to Army Air Corps as aerial gunnery instructor at Harlingen, Tx., promoted to corporal. Hon. discharged in 1946.
