The photo on the right is Ockenfels Castle (13th C.) near Linz, in Germany. The associated Ockenfels village (Pop. 1,119) is believed to be the ancestoral home of early family migrants to Kent in England (est. 16th C.) who utilised this village name as their surname, and over time altered it to an anglicised variation (Oakenfull) as their English surname. Visit http://familypedia.wikia.com/wiki/Ockenfels for more information, including the original Ockenfels family crest.
The church of St. Peter & St. Paul in Boughton-under-Blean (Kent), is the location of the earliest Oakenfull (Okenfold) records in England. For several centuries, Kent contained the surname (eg. an Oakenfull marriage in 1732, Canterbury Cathedral), and a William Oakenfulll was known to be the 'Town Crier' of Canterbury in 1851. Oakenfulls are now found throughout the world, and are all related with common ancestory.
