The death occurred of an old resident of Brookstead, Mr David Thompson at the age of 81 years. He was born Killovan, County Sligo, Ireland and at the age of 22 sailed for New Zealand. Sometime after coming to Australia, he became interested in wheat growing in New South Wales and eventually came to Queensland where he carried on wheat and mixed farming untill his death. He is survived by his widow and five sons and four daughters.

Snakebite - The four year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Jack Rauchle, Leyburn was brought to Pittsworth for medical treatment for snake bite. The child was following her mother to the milking yard and trod on a brown snake which bit her. Mrs Rauchle hastened to the house with the child and cut the poisoned part and bathed it with Condy's crystals and applied a ligature and without delay sought medical aid. After treatment by Dr Bridgman, the child was removed to Nurse Morrison's Hospital and is now considered out of danger.

The late Miss Mary Rauchle who passed away on October 26 after a long and painful illness was a teacher of high standing and ability. She taught in State Schools at Victoria Hill, East Warwick, Ballandean, Sandy Cape, Canungra, Gladfield, Currumbin, Stanthorpe, Applethorpe and at South Toowoomba Girls School. Her work wherever she went showed intelligence and industry above the ordinary, Many messeges of sympathy were received by the relatives.
The death is reported from Leyburn of Mr Charles Rauchle senr. one of the oldest residents in the Leyburn district. The late Mr Rauchle was born in Germany in 1842 and came to Australia with his parents in 1857. He resided for a time in Toowoomba, then at Ellangowan and for the last 35 years at Leyburn, where he and his family were much esteemed. He is survived by a widow, five sons, four of whom live in the Leyburn district and one at Pittsworth and seven daughters, Mrs Cherry-Canning Creek, Mrs Kuhn-Nobby, Mrs H Weir- Victoria Hill, Clifton, Mrs C F Seibel-Pratten, Warwick, Mrs H Meiser-Leyburn, Mrs J Kirby-Leyburn and Miss M Rauchle-Warwick. There are 35 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
