Hi, I'm Scotskiwi
and this is my family's tree.
Our family tree is posted online on this site! There are 202247 names in our family site.
The site was last updated on Dec 20 2014, and it currently has 162 registered member(s).
If you are seeking more info, can you please give me a clue who exactly you are talking or enquiring about. DOB, DOD and POB all help. Please state which tree you are referring to also. Otherwise, there is likely to be no reply.
Try being polite and don't assume I'm a relative and please don't be interogative. I will ignore your message if you take that approach.
Re Maori lineage....this is a difficult area as I am relying on published and in the main, accepted written historical records. With much of the genealogy being from an oral base there are going to be queries and disputes. I have only used information found in accredited research papers and govt agencies as well as recorded Iwi information. Spelling is major challenge as differing accounts record Maori names in various forms. I have consulted maori experts and they say there is no correct spelling becuase maori had no alphabet or written language until they met with Europeans. From about 1820 Maori were taught literacy and numeracy and adopted it with relish. However, the spelling of personal names is sometimes extremely varied.
If there's a danger sign for a personal photo it means there's a serious question mark of some kind or to take care re information. Be cautious.. I am going through my tree and identifying these persons. It also indicates research is still in progress or is a brick wall of some kind....
A new assist to those who have acceess is the image of a Family Tree as a personal photo. It means there is a link to a researched tree but possibly unverified elsewhere......generally I use these where the line is distant to my bloodline........they are an assist not a source....I don't verify these.
Sorry, but I am not offering new site memberships for various reasons unless you are a direct ancestor being a cousin of some degree or a great reason!
Tip: I respond very well to politeness.
