Snodie May Gayler Davis Perkins went to be with her Lord on December 11, 2008 at Mabank Nursing Home. She was 93 years old.
Mrs. Perkins was born at Mountain View, Arkansas, on November 1, 1915, the second daughter and fifth surviving child of Leonidas Morris "Lonnie" Gayler and Bertha May Pendergrass Gayler. The Gayler family moved to Wylie in Collin County, Texas, when Snodie was still a child.
Snodie Gayler married Clyde Lafelle Davis in 1936. They had two children, Lois and Larry. The family moved to Eustace in the early 1950s. Clyde Davis died in 1976.
In 1979, Snodie Davis married James Warren Perkins of Eustace. Mr. Perkins died in 1998.
Mrs. Perkins was a Christian whose gentle and compassionate nature revealed itself through acts of kindness throughout her life. Her children noted that for years both friends and strangers have told them how much their mother has meant to them and how much she was loved and appreciated.
She is survived by sisters Odie Gayler Housewright of Fairfield, TX and Bonnie Rainbow Gayler Seabourne of Eustace, TX; daughter & son-in-law Lois Raye Davis Adams and James Erwin Adams of Kemp; son Larry Lafelle Davis of Costa Rica; stepchildren James Perkins and Burl May Perkins of Dallas County; grandchildren Darlina Raye Anthony, James Lynn Adams, Daniel Clyde Adams and Vicki Adams, and Judy Kay Adams Horn and Simon Horn; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Services were held Dec. 14,2008 by Rev. Brent Tucker under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, TX. Burial was in Moorehead/ Melton Cemetery in Eustace, TX |
