WINNIE H. PACK, 86, OF NIMITZ, SUMMERS
County, died Jan. 9, 1992, in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, after a short illness.

He lived most of his life in Summers County. He was a retired timberman and a member of Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church. He served on Summers County Democratic Executive Committee and was president of Nimitz-Jumping Branch Senior Citizens.

Surviving: daughters, Ina Mae Pack of Ansted, Imogene Adkins and Maxine Bragg, both of Nimitz; sons, Ray Dean and Walter H., both of Nimitz, Tommy Lee of White Oak; brothers, Dewey "Bill" of Ansted, Bert of Cheshire, Ohio; sisters, Audra Pack of Medina, Ohio, Bessie Waddell of Cincinnati, Marie Lilly and Mildred Hatcher, both of Jumping Branch; 18 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; 18 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Arnold Cooper and the Rev. Elmo Alderman officiating. Burial will be in Crews Cemetery, Nimitz. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Ronald Meadows Funeral Home, Hinton, and one hour prior to service at the church.

RAY DEAN "BUCK'' PACK, 57, OF NIMITZ died Nov. 28, 1992, at VA Medical Center, Beckley, after a short illness.

He was employed by Celanese Fiber Corp., Narrows, Va., and was a member of the Woodland Street Baptist Church, Narrows.

Surviving: wife, Sandra Pack; sons, Michael D. of Amarillo, Texas, Mark A. and William Henderson, both of Jumping Branch; brothers, Walter of Nimitz, Tommy of Streeter; sisters, Ina of Ansted, Imogene Adkins and Maxine Bragg, both of Nimitz; five grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ronald Meadow Funeral Home, Hinton, with the Rev. Elmo Alderman officiating. Burial will be at Crews Cemetery, Nimitz. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

NIMITZ -- Walter Henderson Pack Sr., 56, of Nimitz died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, at home after a long illness. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Hinton, the machinists union and UAW, head trustee of Crews Cemetery, Nimitz, former commander of the DAV, former president of Jumping Branch Ruritan Club, an Army Signal Corps veteran, a Class A machinist/tool and die maker and an amateur pilot. Surviving: wife, Andrea Marianne Stawski Pack; sons, Ricky R. of Jumping Branch, Walter H. Jr and Robert J. "Bobby" of Nimitz; sisters, Ina Mae Pack of Ansted, Imogene Adkins and Maxine Bragg of Nimitz; four grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. David Schmitt officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Ronald Meadows Funeral Home, Hinton, where a vigil prayer and rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions to Crews Cemetery Fund or the Ministry for the Elderly of St. Patrick's Parish.

NIMITZ — Mark A. Pack, 44, of Nimitz, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at Charleston Area Medical Center.

Born July 16, 1961, at Hinton, he was the son of Sandy Shirey Pack Ellis and husband, Bill, of Jumping Branch and the late Ray Dean “Buck” Pack.

Mark had lived most of his life in Summers County. He was the general manager of Whittaker Auto Machine Shop in Nimitz. He was a loving husband, son, father and brother and will be sadly missed by all.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Tresia Surbaugh Pack; a daughter, Tristen Pack at home; a stepson, Timmy Duncan of Raleigh, N.C.; two brothers, Mike D. Pack of Pensacola, Fla., and William H. Pack of Crestview, Fla.; his stepbrother, DeWayne Ellis of Forest Hill; and father and mother-in-law, Charles and Margaret Surbaugh of Hinton.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Billy Ballengee officiating. Burial will follow in Lilly-Crews Cemetery, Nimitz.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral parlors.

Pallbearers will be Walter Pack Jr., Keith Surbaugh, Seth Allen, Nathan Trout, James Keever and Raymond Allen.

 RENICK – Roy Dean Pack, 75, of Renick, went to sleep in Jesus’ arms July 4, 2007, at his home surrounded by family members and friends.

Born October 18, 1931 at Streeter, he was the son of Lorna Lilly Pack, and the late Omer Pack.

He is asleep in Jesus, next thing he will see is Jesus coming through the clouds with a shout and trumph of God. Dead in Christ will rise first to meet Jesus in the air, those which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds so shall we ever be with the Lord and our love ones, 1 Thessalions 15-18. We will have a big family reunion soon and very soon.

He will be missed by all. He was a member of Lewisburg Seventh Day Adventist Church where his heart was devoted in providing lumber for building of the church and funds toward the upkeep of the church. He was a devoted business man for over 50 years. He was the owner of several service stations and garages. Early in life he worked for his father in the saw-mill business where he worked on their equipment.

He also worked for Basham Garage in White Oak working on small engines and at Ingrams Pontiac Garage on automobile repairs before going in business for himself. He was owner and operator of B.P. Service Station and Groceries in Ballard where he repaired autombiles as a mechanic. He also owned Roy’s Texaco in Fairlea from March 1973 until August 1979 as a mechanic.

From September 1979 until 1985 he owned Saw Pitt Inn Texaco Station Garage and Game Room at Renick until the present time. He also owned the Saw Pitt Inn, a small engine repair shop and produce market as well as offered service of parts, chainsaws, weed eaters, and small engine repairs. He will be missed but greatly loved by all who knew him.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his first wife who is also asleep in Jesus’ arms, Virginia Pack Lane; and sons, Steven Dale Pack, Anthony Dean Pack, and Tracy Dean Pack; two unnamed babies; and brothers, Ivan, Jesse, and Sidney Pack.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 34 years, Delsie McMahan Pack of Renick; mother, Lorna Pack of Indian Mills; mother-in-law, Beatrice McMahan of Caldwell; daughter, Sandra Via and husband Nathan of Goldbond, Va.; sons, Roy Kevin (Buck) Pack and wife Jean of Ballard and Jeffrey Dean Pack and wife Betty Jo, all of Ballard; brothers, Ronnie Pack of Princeton, Barry Pack and wife Brenda of White Oak, and Randall Pack and wife Oneda of Ballard; sisters, Mrs. Lavonna McNear and husband Ronnie of Quinton, Va. and Tenarie Sarver and husband Walker of Bluefield, Va.; five grandchildren, Eugene Via and wife Kim, Crystal Sexton and husband Brian, Keisha Pack and boyfriend Travis Blankenship, Virginia (Jenny) Rose Pack, and Steven Wayne Pack; five great grandchildren, Andrew Via, Aaron Via, Destiny Paczosa, Cameryn Paczosa, and Barbara Sexton; two step great grandchildren, B.J. Sexton and Briana Sexton. He also leaves behind many, many uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, family, customers, and a large church family. He will be missed but greatly loved by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of McCraw Funeral Home, Lewisburg with Pastor Stewart Pepper officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg.

Family will receive guests from 6 until 9 p.m. today at the

funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Carl McMahan, Leonard Shifflet, Mark Williams, Ronny Weikle, Gerald Erskin, Roger Stull, Calvin Kelley, and Alex Eskine.

Donations can be made to the Lewisburg Seventh Day Adventist Church in memory of Mr. Pack, 215 North Court Street, Lewisburg, WV 24901.

NIMITZ — Robert Joseph “Bobby” Pack, 43, of Nimitz, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at his home, following a sudden illness.

Born March 14, 1965, at New Britain, Conn., he is the son of the late Walter H. Pack Sr. and Andrea M. Stawski Pack of Nimitz.

Bobby was a member of the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church of Hinton and was a former member of the Jumping Branch-Nimitz Volunteer Fire Department. Bob was an Extra Class Ham Radio Operator who enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeler riding along with spending time with his family and friends.

He was a former trustee of the Lilly-Crews Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Lilly Pack; two sons, Joseph Andrew Pack of Nimitz and Bradley Alexander Pack and wife Maria of Nimitz; one granddaughter, Wendy Marie Pack of Nimitz; two brothers, Ricky R. Pack and wife Martha of Nimitz and Walter H. Pack and wife Betty of Nimitz; four nieces, Amanda, Ella, Sarah, Melissa; and two nephews, Wesley and Johnny also survive.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Pastor Elmo Alderman officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call at the Funeral Parlor from 12 noon until time of service on Wednesday. Family and friends will service as pallbearers.
