It started out as my gift to the family in December 1999: a record of my ancestry, and theirs. It represents the paper documents with which I was entrusted in 1980, some research of Arn Lund, and a few lucky internet search results. As time goes by, I'll hope to amend it myself with better details from aunts and uncles who remain, further internet searches and the submissions of those who read it and suggest improvements. I am especially interested to see the ancestry of my grandchildren extended, and some poorly documented gaps filled.
This image is one of the many Mitchell Tartans reflecting their association with several Scotch-Irish Clans. The Reefman/Bowman (Holland) immigration may be the most recent, while the Elmer (England) family arrived with the Pilgrims. The earliest ancestral record belongs to Robert Wilforde, born about 1432 in Oxton, England, of the Whitford line. The Wilford name appears among Canadian Mitchell cousins.
