Maine marriage records between 1892 and 1966 include groom's name, bride's name, date of marriage, county of marriage, and license number. Before 1820, Maine was part of Massachusetts. Early records of people who lived in Maine were kept at the town level before state registration in 1892 began. This collection, made available by the Maine Department of Human Services, contains the bride and groom’s names, date and place of marriage, marriage certificate number, and the places of residence.
Next steps: Once a bride and groom are found, it is likely that the original may have the parents of the couple in question, and in the earliest records from the Maine State Archives, the names, occupations, and birth places of the parents of the couple getting married.
