Henry Jansen was born in Golenkamp, Bentheim, Germany, emigrated to the US with his parents in January 1886. His surname became Johnson following his emigration. He married Reka Wentzel in Hamilton, MI on June 3, 1903. He and his wife were the parents of six sons: Lewis, Fred, Raymond H, Martin, Ivan G. and Cecil; and five daughters: Josephine, Henrietta, Rhoda, Ione, and Lorraine.
