Biography

Served in Civil War. Marker in Pine Grove Cemetery, Southside, WV

Adam liked to fill his one horse wagon with fruit; apples, peaches, pears or plums or whatever kind he had, He would start down to the River Road (now, Rt. 17) and stop at each house to sell what he could. Whenever he sold once, he could always sell again because, when he filled his measure, he always put on as much as it would hold so they liked to buy from him.

He was a large man, but not fat. He had brown eyes, hair nearly black and he liked to tease (as much as John does). Mary Jane, his wife had long dark hair and blue eyes. Both were ready to help anyone they found in trouble of any kind.

(This was from some of Milton Lewis Jr.’s papers but I don’t’ know if he wrote it.)
