Gerald Harrison Noyes, 95, of Amarillo died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today in Cenrtral Church of Christ Chapel with the Rev. Allan Stanglin and John Noyes officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Gerald H. Noyes was born May 31, 1916, in Collin County to Charles William and Lovely Lou Iza Noyes.
He joined the Army in 1936, where he was assigned to the 8th Calvery. He was also a veteran of World War II. He was wounded and later deployed to the Pacific area, where he fought in the Phillipines.
He married Helen Mae Woodson on Aug. 2, 1941, in Kansas City, Mo. They lived in Amarillo for 27 years after the war, then moved to Georgetown in 1978. They moved to Abilene in 2003 and returned to Amarillo in 2009.
He was a faithful member of Church of Christ. He served as deacon and elder in various congregations through the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry Noyes and wife Judy of Mesquite, and John Noyes and wife Nancy of Amarillo; three daughters, Janie Chase and husband Derrel of Abilene, Judy Winget and husband Don of Cedar Park, and Janette Boyd and husband Jack of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
