Gaut Bernard

Susan has a note based on unidentifed research in the Barnard papers identifying a person called Gaut Bjornson of Norse origin who orginally was active on the Isle of Man but subsequently in Yorkshire where his name Bjornson was adapted by the Saxons as Bernard. It is as likely a legend as any.
