Biography
Hilda was an outspoken person. At her funeral the minister said, "Hilda loved a 'discussion'." He had to wait a considerable time for the laughing to stop. I can remember her berating Dad after visiting Blue and Evelyn's because Evelyn had said that her girls would go to school until they were just 15 (the school-leaving age) and then she would have them working in the house, at home, until they were married. My mother thought that was awful and that Dad needed to tell his brother about it. This was about 1949 and it is the first memory of my mother's femnist attitude that I have.
