When Louis returned from the War, he went out West to where his mother Amanda Alphin's kinfolk lived. He received his inheritance from his mother's people when he turned 21.
Louis was visiting his brother Ross on the Wednesday of his own death, because Ross'
father-in-law, Arlie Whitley had just died. Everyone was trying to keep Louis settled down from the commotion, aware of his heart condition. He walked up the front porch of Ross' house instead of going next door where the kinfolk had gathered for Arlie's wake when he complained of chest pains. An ambulance was called immediately and he was taken to the hospital. Novell was quite upset not knowing who was being taken to the hospital, and seeing the ambulance arrive at the front door of her house. He died later at the hospital. Louis was buried Friday Jul 18, 1969 at 4:00 p.m. The Rev. Jerry

When Everett (Ross's son) was a young boy he was frequently allowed to make trips with his uncle Louis. Louis did have a colorful personality.
