Services for Blanche Lorene Williams Thompson will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at 1:00 at Decatur United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thompson, 90, a resident of Aldersgate, Meridian, died Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Riley Hospital.
She was born December 14, 1919 in Meridian, MS, the third child of Richard and Ione Williams. Mrs. Thompson was a lifetime member of United Methodist Women. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling the United States as well as several countries and continents. Mrs. Thompson also enjoyed handwork; such as quilting, raggedy Ann dolls and crafts. She served as her church treasurer for many years and wrote her autobiography in 2005.
Survivors include daughters, Rosalyn Mayes, Starkville, MS, Christine Riley (William) Meridian, Ellen Johnson (Bob Tom), Forest, MS, and Janice Tingle (Hardy), The Villages, FL; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-five years, Albert Thompson; one grandson, Bob Tom Johnson, Jr.; brother, George Arron Williams; and sisters, Charlotte Tims and Maude Franklin.
