ROEPKE, Mrs. Mary (John) of Taylor, formerly of Thrall. Age 86. Died 8/29/1974 (Wed.) in Sweetbriar rest home in Taylor following a lingering illness. Services held (Thursday) from Condra Memorial Chapel in Taylor. Burial in the Taylor City Cemetery. Revs. James Heineke and E. Herber officiated. She was BORN 9/12/1887, as Mary Hirt, daughter of the late Joe & Bertha Hirt in the Salty Community near Thorndale. On 8/13/1908, she was married to John Roepke who preceded her in death on 3/19/1973. Member of St.John Lutheran Church in Thrall for many years. SURVIVORS: 2 daughters, Mrs. Buddy (Margaret) Limmer of San Gabriel and Mrs. Martha Zapalac of Taylor; 3 sons, Leo Roepke of Taylor, Johnny C. Roepke of Round Rock and Joe Roepke of Austin; 2 sisters, Mrs. Minnie Stephens and Mrs. Louise Doss, both of Rockdale; brother, Willie Hirt of Rockdale; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
