Biography

Source: Jeffrey High (ID *****3603) Date: February 15, 2006 at 23:44:14

The man for whom you seek is James High, son of Alexander Martin High and Lucy Stuart. Alexander was the son of Alsobrook High, the son of John High (jr.), son of John High (sr.), son of Thomas High who received Land in Virginia in 1660. This is perfectly documented by Highfamily.org. James did NOT die at Gettysburg (though was from Wake County). There was only ONE James High from North Carolina at Gettysburg (or at all in the US Civil War), and he lived on to the year 1901 (b. 1828). I have in my possession the notarized NC register documents of this. James (and his wife Malissa) had several children, the eldest of which was Charles Thomas, father of Sydney Raymond (aka Rufus) High, my great-grandfather. I have the High Family Bible of Charles, given to Sydney (Rufus), and then on to his direct male descendants (me).
