This document clearly shows that Catherine Humphries' father was Archibald McElroy of Johnston Co., NC. Archibald McElroy left a will in Johnston Co. NC about 1760 that bequeathed 100 acres of land to his daughter Catherine. Archibald is documented in Volume 9 of the book "Historical Southern Families" by John Bennett Boddie with the McElroy chapter being written by "Judy" Barnett. The printed transcript leaves out the bequest to daughter, Catherine, but family researcher Betty Stokes has a copy of the second page of the will which includes Catherine's name and bequest.
