Mathew married twice, first to Amey Hopson (m. Feb. 21, 1804) then to Alley Brasfield (m. Dec. 31, 1822). Mathew's siblings include; William, Joseph, Patsey (married Edwin Motley), Edward, James & John.Emigrated as a young man from Ireland, said to have hired himself to an emigrant couple to earn his ship fare. Probably came in 1790's. Settled in Wake Co., NC, where several other Lynn families were living. Second marriage at Wake Co., NC. Deeds in Raleigh show transactions with James Lynn and John Lynn in the early 1800's. The last land deed was recorded in 1837, in which he sold his land in Wake Co. He and his family had already moved south to Cooksville, Noxubee Co., MS.   Matthew Lynn (before 1780-1842) was born in Ireland, probably the Ulster part of Ireland, and immigrated to America as a young man. He settled near Raleigh, North Carolina. He married Amy Hopson in Wake County, North Carolina, in 1804. They probably had six children, born ca. 1804-ca. 1818. Amy Lynn died in 1820 or 1821. He married 2) Ailey Shaw Brasfield in 1822. They had five children. Their daughter, Caroline A. A. Lynn, married Joseph Shaw.
