Occupation: Farmer. Johann Charles Carl Gerdts resided in Pierrepoint, Hochkirch, Victoria, Australia circa 1847. Marianne then married Johann Charles (Carl) Gerdts. Carl, as he was known, was born in Hohewanglin, Mecklenburg. and emigrated on the "Sophie" departing Hamburg on April 25 1850 for Port Adelaide and Melbourne. Charles was naturalised on October 10 1863. They had 8 children all born in the 12 years from 1882 - 1893
