On 26 November 1787 he purchased 100 acres on the Haw River (Orange Co., N.C.) from John Jennings, of Anson County. Witnesses were James Milikin and Enoch Kelly. (Orange Co., N.C. Deeds Book 5 pg. 335). The Orange County Caswell Tax District (though the records are incomplete) records William having lived on this property in 1787, 1788, and 1796.
