Jonathan Melvin (John & Hannah Lewis) b. 5/29/1688 Charlestown MA d. 2/11/1736 Concord MA m. 2/28/1714 Concord MA to Sarah Hartwell (Ebenezer Hartwell & Sarah Smeadley) b. 7/28/1694 Concord MA Sarah Hartwell Melvin moved to Worcester MA after she married Elisha Smith who was from there. Jonathan Melvin bought a strip of land in Concord in 1724. Although his name does not appear on the various war rolls, he must have shared in some of the "fights" since he was the possessor of a sword and at least two guns. He bequeathed his sword to his fourth son and a gun to each of his sons John and Jonathan. They lived on a farm adjoining Sarah's brother John Hartwell in Concord MA. Children: i. Sarah Melvin (Jonathan; John) (b. 6/23/1716 Concord MA m. 1735/36 to Joseph Barns - 6 children ii. Jonathan Melvin (Jonathan; John) b. 10/12/1718 Concord MA m> 1750 Hollis NH to Mary Brooks iii. Ebenezer Melvin (Jonathan; John) b. 11/10/1725 Concord MA Ebenezer - was one of the proprietors and first settlers of the town on Hollis, NH. v.
