Fredrick W. William Mortimer, Sr.

Fredrick W. Mortimer Sr., 77, of Minerva died Nov. 21 at him home. Funeral services were held Nov. 27 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Minerva with the Rev. Bobby Jones officiating. Burial with military honors followed at Minerva Cemetery.

Mortimer was born March 25, 1928 in Milano to George Trott and Helen Clair (Beckhusen) Mortimer.

He was a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant in the U.S. Marines.

He married Helen Ruth Richards April 2, 1950 in Rockdale. He attended Milano I.S.D. and served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, Korea and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Minerva.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helene Mortimer; sister, Lucille Huntsman; brothers, James and William Mortimer and parents.

He is survived by his sons, Rick Mortimer of Houston and Mark Dennis Mortimer of Oakville, CT; daughter, Karen Bryan Shaw of Minerva; brothers, George Mortimer of Cameron and Monroe Mortimer of Rockdale; grandchildren, Theresa Lynn Wenzel of Lyons; Kenice Michelle Mersmann of Katy; Michael William Evans of College Station; Eric Clayton Mortimer of Hearne; Jane Laurhea Mortimer of Bryan; Nicole Bernadette Mortimer and Mark Dennis Mortimer Jr. of Oakville, CT; great-grandchildren, Bradley Edward Wenzel of Lyons; Hannah Lynn Mersmann of Katy; Dallas Clifford Mortimer and Trinity Astraia Graham of Oakville, CT.
