OBITUARY

John E. Serafini, age 81, of Lopez, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at his home with his loving family at his side.

John was born in Bernice, PA a son of the late Eugene & Susan Mattioli Serafini. He graduated from the Cherry Township High School. He married Ann Sysock of Lopez, PA on January 10, 1953 and she predeceased him on August 18, 2005.

John worked as a machine operator for the former Endicott-Johnson Shoe Co. of Mildred, PA retiring in 1991. He had a real passion for sports and was a long time Yankee fan, he also enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing. After retiring, he focused his interest on his grand-children and great grand-children whom he loved beyond measure. He treasured the memories of family and friends and would often speak of the good times he had with them during his younger years of life.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA.

Surviving: Two sons: John M. Serafini Lopez, PA Mark A. ( Robin) Serafini Ulster, PA

Daughter: Lisa (Robert) Burke Lopez, PA

Brother: Arno (Diane) Serafini Mildred, PA

Sisters: Rose Gardner Lopez, PA Anne Decker Mildred, PA Anita Sysock Dushore, PA

Brothers-in-law: Steve Sysock Mildred, PA Andrew (Marge) Sysock Clark Township, NJ

Sister-in-law: Emily Sysock Rahway, NJ

Numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Mundy Serafini and sisters: Josephine Barnatovich and Enis Serafini.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, his pastor, presiding. Interment was in the adjoining parish cemetery.

The family provided the flowers and request that memorial contributions be sent to Guthrie Hospice, 421 Tomahawk Road, Towanda, PA 18848.

Pallbearers were: John M. Serafini, Mark A. Serafini, Robert Burke, Dustin Burke, Jason Burke, and Craig Kachmarsky
