Biography

Glentana

Valley County

Montana, USA

Death: Aug. 19, 2011

Washington, USA

Casper was born in Glentana, Montana in 1918, and was the 7th of 10 children. He helped with chores on the farm where he was raised. He had a summer job gathering coal from a strip on a neighbor's place and was paid in coal to help heat the family home. He helped at counter of the tiny country store in his home town. He later worked at the Glasgow car dealership, putting away much of his wages to buy his own car. In 1941 he took a welding course in Helena, and then he headed west to Seattle with 4 friends to work at Boeing. He helped build the B-17 bomber for WWII. After he was laid off when the war ended, he worked at a Standard Oil service station. He also helped out at Hargrove's Restaurant, where he met his wife Nola. He was called back to work at Boeing in 1948, and continued until retirement in 1974. He made many lifelong friends while working there.

He was a great mechanic and the guy to ask about anything cars. He and his wife enjoyed going the garage sales and especially loved finding antiques. He was able to build or fix things around his home and later made wooden toys for his grandkids. They had many trips to visit his family in Spokane, Idaho, Montana and California.

Cappy and his wife Nola had been married almost 64 years when she preceded him to Heaven in January of 2007. He joined her there August 19, 2011. He passed away peacefully in his own home

He is survived by 4 daughters and 3 son-in laws, Judy and George Heiland, Candis and Robert Elmer, Pamela Pehan, and Rebecca and Michael Donnelly, 12 grandchildren and their spouses, 8 great-grandchildren, and by 2 brothers and a sister.

In lieu of flowers, please make any remembrances to thewaterproject.com and select to Kenya, in honor of Cappy's wonderful caretakers, who gave him loving care and enabled him to stay in his own home, as he wished, through the end of his days.
