Biography
Attended Kaitangata Primary School. Married Jack Clarke who died of TB shortly after the marriage. No children. Opened a haberdasher shop in Kaitangata. Also the OK Lending Library and taught the Primers at Kaitangata Primary School for a short time. Moved to Dunedin where she purchased a house. Believed to be one of the first women to get a mortgage. Ran a Dairy opposite Knox Church for many years, living upstairs. Only gas lighting in those days. Shifted to New Brighton, Christchurch where she worked at the Coronet Cake Kitchen. and lived at 16 Rawhitti Avenue. She went by bicycle to work every day. Moved back to 10A Young Street St Kilda Dunedin. Godmother of William Leonard Bruce Douglas.
