BiographyObituary of Margaret Ann Shaffer, copy from the Mason Count y Democrat,   Friday, March 3, 1917. Margare t Ann Schafer Phillips was born November 5, 1843, in Pennsy lvania, and died February 19, 1917 at her home in Snicart e at the age of seventy-four years, three months and fourte en days. She removed to Mason County, Illinois, in her yout h and spent the remainder of her life here. At an early ag e she was married to Berry Prentice and to this union wer e born two children, one of whom preceded the mother in dea th. Mr. Prentice was killed during the Civil War. In 1 866 she was united in marriage to William Waddell. To the m were five children, two of whom surive. Two daughters an d one son passed away before their mother. Again the decede nt was widowed, when Mr. Waddell passed away in 1883. Two y ears later she was married to Albert Phillips who still sur vives. She is also survied by three sons, Isacc Prentice o f Snicarte, Thomas Waddell of Beardstown, and James Waddel l of Snicarte. She also leaves to mourn her death three ste p children, William and Mary of Snicarte and Walter of Peki n. She was converted in a series of revival meetings held i n Snicarte by Brother Leek in 1882 and united with the Hope well Baptist Church on March 12 of that year.
