Biography

He was christened in Baschütz, Saxony on July 25, 1803. Johann immigrated to Australia in 1851.(454) Johann and his family lived at Rosenthal, South Australia from 1851 until 1860, then at Hochkirch (Tarrington), Victoria. Johann was naturalised in 1862 at Rosenthal, South Australia and again in 1860. Johann retired from farming in 1874 and lived with his daughter Maria for the next thirteen years until his death. Johann Hundrack made his last will and testament on August 27, 1881 in the presence of Pastor Clamour Wilhelm Schurmann and Heinrich Nuschmedt and appointed his son-in-law Johann Gotthelf Schultz as his executor. Johann did not pass on until almost six years from making his will. As his original will was written in German, it was translated into English by William Alexander Brake, Consul of the German Empire. His estate at the time of his death consisted of real estate in the Colony of Victoria, not exceeding in value one hundred and thirty five pounds and personal estate in the said Colony, not exceeding in value five hundred and twenty four pounds. Johann bequeathed the sum of sixty six pounds each to each of his daughters Anna, Agnes, Christiane, Theresia, Ernestine and Henriette, and devised that his daughter Maria Hundrack receive his share in allotment thirteen, section two, South Hamilton, with all fixtures and chattels, with all beasts and utensils provided she nursed him until his death and buried him decently. At 84 years of age. He was buried in the Lutheran Cemetery, South Hamilton, Victoria. Occupation: Farmer.
