Biography
Mathes and Maria Handreck resided in Byaduk, Victoria, Australia. Occupation: Farmer. Mathes the 5th child of Mathes and Anna, emigrated with his parents and siblings in 1858. He was naturalised on 26th September, 1879 at the age of 23. Mathes owned a property, now known as "Elm Park", on the corner of Byaduk Luthern Church and Old Crusher roads. They had 12 children, losing Ernst, at the age of 6 weeks, Trangott at birth and Sophia at the age of barely 2 weeks. All other 9 children married and raised families.
