Major Brasfield witnessed power of attorney from Samuel Major of Dinwiddie County, VA., to "my friend George Brasfield of Wake County, N.C." November 5, 1808, recorded Orange County, N.C. Court, November Term 1808. Proved by oath of Major Brasfield. (Deed Book 13, p 206, Orange County, N.C.) The children "left orphans" by 1821 (Record Book 18, p 249, 284, Wake County, N.C.) were boarded by Wiley Brasfield. This was probably the Wiley Brasfield who married Delilah Moberley in 1800 in Wake County, N.C. John Shaw was guardian of the children in 1823; Matthew Lynn was guardian of John, Joseph, and Leontine Brasfield in 1836, Wake County, N.C.
